CBT Development at 6 Searcy Street, Borroloola
Following requests from the community over the years for more local services and business opportunities, the CBT is developing a new community, retail and commercial development at 6 Searcy St, Borroloola.
This development will have significant benefits for the community and wider region, including enabling the provision of more government services for the community, provide enterprise and employment opportunities for local people and businesses, improve the overall amenity of Borroloola on a key central site in town, establish more space for community activities, and support entrepreneurial and enterprise development.
Most importantly the development aims to build opportunity by making provision for what’s currently missing, rather than compete with existing services and businesses. The development model consists of retail, commercial and community space that directly responds to the needs of the community.
Development model:
- 6 x retail tenancies – including bakery, butcher, pharmacy and laundry
- 3 x commercial tenancies – including Northern Territory Government services
- Community space
- Youth Facility
- 12 shop top apartments ranging from 1 to 3 bedrooms
The CBT have engaged with the community and other key stakeholders in refining the development model and will continue to do so throughout the preliminary phases of the development.
